Bio B - Field Study

There were finally very noticeable changes in the area. The colors that I could see in the dark weren't as vibrant, and a lot of the plants had turned brown.  However some plants still had "flowers" on them and the prickers and grass were still green and purple.  The biggest change in the area was the pokeweed. They had lost their color and looked to be wilting. But they were still the same height.  Despite being in the dark and having some quad trouble, the area seemed much more peaceful at night. The forest seemed to be still and asleep. 

 For this field study I decided to visit at night on October 30, 2021.  I was there from 8:50-9:00. It was 55 degrees with no rain, almost no rain, and almost no stars visible.  Sunrise was at 8:15 am and sunset was at 6:39 pm.  I noticed many different things on this visit because it was night.  The most noticeable difference was the absence of birds. There was no chirping or flapping. The area was mostly silent except for a few frogs croaking and a slight breeze.  I believe this is in part because of the time but also because I had traveled by quad, and that probably scared off any nocturnal critters.  I also noticed how much more obvious car sounds were, they were much louder because everything else was still. There was also the smell of smoke in the air because people had been burning leaves in the neighborhood, and the smell of exhaust because of the quad. 

 Again there weren't many changes. The grass was still green, and the majority of the plants that had flowers at Field Study 2, still had flowers. As noted before I noticed that there were a lot less bird and cricket noises.  The leaves on the trees have gotten brighter and the number of colored leaves are growing, but not very quickly. The biggest change I noticed was that most of the plants I expected to be dried up last trip were finally dried up. The most surprising to me being the Pokeweed. The Pokeweed has started to dry up and loose its berries. This makes me wonder what part of the plant is perennial, for some reason I expected the plant to remain untouched by the changing of seasons.  It's also harder to tell but it seems like the pokeweed has remained the same height    

 October 8, 2022. Today was also very windy and partly cloudy but with a lot more sun this time. I was there around 1:15 pm. The temperature was around 53 degrees. The length of day today is sunrise at 7:49 am and sunset at 7:12 pm.  During this visit I heard a lot more wind than last time. There was also someone mowing their lawn not far from us, with their kids running around. I heard some crickets, but no birds. This was either because of the weather or because my cat decided to follow me this trip.  My cat seemed to really enjoy my Field Study location:
